Favourite Photos of 2025

My favourite images I’ve taken in 2025. Some months were full of photos I loved so it was hard to narrow them down.

January saw some incredible skies with the dust from a Sahara storm impacting our skies. We had a few morning in a row, very windy but it created the most magical colours.

Februarys image was from a beautiful sunrise walk with fellow photographer Jules, a very disappointing start to the morning eventually transformed into fantastic golden skies at St Marys Lighthouse.

March is from my favourite little place, Cullercoats, I captured so many beautiful silhouettes on that morning.

Aprils Image was captured on Drudge Bay with my friend Angela. We went to Druridge Bay with a vision to create something Dune like. But what was captured far exceeded my expectations and I was chuffed with the outcome. This image was shortlisted for The British Photography Awards too!

I absolutely love when I get the chance to do a little bit of wildlife photography, this squirrel was taken at Saltwell Park, we gave him some nuts and he was a brilliant little poser for the camera back in May!

Junes photo was taken on what quite possibly was there most calm sunrise I've ever experienced. The water was so still and the sun so bright it was creating such sharp and crisp silhouettes.

I finally got to experience a sunset cruise around the Farne Islands in July. The weather wasn’t predicted to be clear - rain was forecast, but thankfully, it was perfect! We even got to stay on a little longer and enjoy one of the best sunsets I've ever seen! One of my typical silhouette shots was not something that I expected to get on this little trip, but there were some people perfectly placed below the sun setting and it really was a truly exciting moment as a photographer to capture.

Last summer I missed an incredible performance by The Company of Others - Grief Floats. A performance that is an act of remembering and an offer of communal reflection on all we have lost and are losing. I didn’t want to miss this opportunity again, so it was a super early start to the day and very much worth getting out of bed for. Such a moving performance and the costumes were an absolute dream to photograph.

Septembers photo was another one of those special mornings, I’ve never seen the sky looking like stripes before! Moments like this you know you need to work fast and get the shots before the sky changes, because who knows when it will be like this again. I did get quite a selection from this particular morning that I have definitely milked slightly on my grid! My favourite from the series has to be this one of the Kayakers all stood perfectly and evenly spaced waiting to get themselves into the sea.

My favourite month of the year, I absolutely love the change in the seasons during October and I always feel as a photographer it’s the best month to shoot in. This is the month I got the clearest skies I found at both sunrise and sunset. This was my favourite image of someone stood on Cullercoats arch, the seagulls doing what they do best - posing perfectly in flight.

Novembers shot was without a doubt my favourite series of photos I have taken all year. I took a ridiculous amount of photos that morning because I didn’t want to miss a single moment. Surfers are such a fun and incredibly challenging subject to photograph. I couldn't wait to get home and see what I caught on camera. Anyone that knows my work knows Tyenmouth Lighthouse features very heavily so this shot combined with the surfer was my favourite and most striking I felt.

Last but not least, December. For years I have wanted to capture photos of the drummers from Spark! And finally got to have that opportunity as part of the North Shields 800 parade. Fast paced and very crowded, I was happy to be able to tick that off my photography bucket list.

Photography continues to be an important part of my routine. It gets me outdoors regularly and encourages me to slow down and observe details that are easy to miss, patterns in the water, fast changing skies, small shifts in colour and texture.

These photos reflect a year of consistency, and spending time in places I truly love 🥰
