Tynemouth Priory and Castle Valentine’s Day Sunrise
There’s something special about getting up before everyone else and this Valentine’s weekend at Tynemouth Priory and Castle was the perfect reminder. The morning was icy and cold, with every breath visible in the crisp air, but the chill didn’t stop people from coming out to watch the sunrise.
Couples, photographers and early risers gathered along the cliffs, all sharing the same quiet excitement. As the sun rose over the North Sea, it lit up the sky in shades of gold and orange, silhouetting people walking and standing along the edge. The priory ruins added a dramatic backdrop, and the changing light made every moment feel unique.
It was the kind of morning that makes you pause a simple, beautiful start to the day, shared with strangers who were all there for the same reason. By the time the sun was fully up, fingers were most definitely frozen but hearts were full.
Some mornings are just beautiful. This one felt truly special, getting to spend it with friends and at a location we won’t get to witness a sunrise from too often.
